RAIS is a local charity which provides advocacy, information and support services to refugees and asylum seekers living in Lancaster and Morecambe. All of our staff and volunteers have experience of helping asylum seekers and refugees in our city, and are committed to welcoming and supporting them.
Lancaster and Morecambe City of Sanctuary is a collaborative forum, bringing together voluntary sector organisations who support forcibly displaced people living locally. We are passionate about collaborating to provide a welcoming place of safety for people fleeing war, violence and persecution.
East Meets West run drop in sessions for refugee women and pre-school children on Thursdays between 12 and 2 pm at Lancaster Baptist Church. East Meets West have years of experience of crossing cultural and linguistic barriers and forming friendships.
Global Link are a Development Education Centre (DEC) based in Lancaster, UK.We run workshops, exhibitions, training and other events in schools, colleges and the wider community on global citizenship issues such as diversity, human rights, migration, fairtrade, climate change and sustainable development.We also provide a range of support services and integration activities for refugees and asylum seekers.
Short Film-Making Project
Short Films produced by a group of participants during the third year of a short film-making project with refugees living in Lancaster and Morecambe. Previous stages of the project were funded through the AHRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) and the University of Sanctuary initiative at Lancaster University. The workshops were organised through Lancaster University in collaboration with Home from Home, Global Link, and the Lancaster and Morecambe Sanctuary Film Club.
