The Global Village Café started in 2018 and is a non-profit making company run by volunteers. The café’s simple aim is to bring people together through food. All their chefs are refugees or asylum-seekers who want to share their culinary skills and traditions. In return, the café provides training, volunteering and paid employment and attracts customers who are looking for something delicious that also benefits the local community.

Global Link was established in 1993 as a development education centre (and member of the Consortium of DECs) and as such uses creative and participatory learning experiences to increase awareness of the global dimension and encourage action towards a fairer and more sustainable world.

Sanctuary Cinema Club is the dedicated film club for the Lancaster & Morecambe area aimed particularly at asylum seekers and refugees. We want people to feel welcomed, included and supported here.

Home From Home is the first Film Festival organised by The Sanctuary Cinema Club, in collaboration with organisations and venues throughout Lancaster.

Culture vs War is a powerful feature-length documentary that explores how Ukrainian culture becomes a form of resistance during Russia’s war against Ukraine. Yuliia is the UK Coordinator of the Culture vs War project, and also works with Krylo Culture, a charity which aims at promoting cultural integration and the preservation of Ukrainian heritage.

Refugee Advocacy Information and Support (RAIS) is a local charity which provides advocacy, information and support services to refugees and asylum seekers living in Lancaster and Morecambe. All of the staff and volunteers have experience of helping asylum seekers and refugees in our city, and are committed to welcoming and supporting them.

Global Link are a Development Education Centre (DEC) based in Lancaster, UK. They run workshops, exhibitions, training and other events in schools, colleges and the wider community on global citizenship issues such as diversity, human rights, migration, fairtrade, climate change and sustainable development. They also provide a range of support services and integration activities for refugees and asylum seekers.

East Meets West run drop in sessions for refugee women and pre-school children on Thursdays between 12 and 2 pm at Lancaster Baptist Church. East Meets West have years of experience of crossing cultural and linguistic barriers and forming friendships.
